Michael Pena

Michael Pena earned his Master’s in counseling psychology and his Doctorate in clinical psychology from the Pacifica Graduate Institute in Carpinteria, Ca. He is licensed as a marriage and family therapist and most recently a psychological assistant. Michael has worked in numerous county mental health systems, providing direct services and clinical oversight. Additionally, he has worked in academic settings teaching and providing counseling services.
Michael became a therapist because he wanted to improve the lives of others. From his own personal experience, he was able to see the benefit of therapy in peoples’ lives. Michael’s main accomplishments include completing his Doctoral Dissertation, Men’s Experience of Perinatal Loss (2007) and earning his PhD. Michael served as Tehama County’s Mental Health Director from 2010 to 2012. He is, however, most proud of being a dad to his six-year-old son. Elliott.
Michael will join the Dunamis team as the SELPA Director on August 1 and begin leading the clinical team and administering the program.
